Y como no podía ser de otra manera voy a hablar un poco de historia, que ya era hora.
En esta ocasión os presento unas fotos de un columbario romano que se está reconstruyendo en el futuro Centro de Interpretación de Antequera. Esta reconstrucción se está haciendo con los métodos de la época y para ello se está utilizando la misma argamasa que se utilizaba en la época.
Los columbarios eran una forma de entierro colectivo perteneciente a corporaciones funerarias y su nombre viene de la forma de los "loculi" que eran los espacios destinados para las urnas cinerarias, porque eran iguales que los espacios de los nidos en los palomares.
Los columbarios permanecieron en uso hasta los siglos II ó III d.C. y eran muy frecuentes así como la alternativa a los mausoleos y las tumbas aisladas. En el centro se puede apreciar lo que podría ser un altar o una tumba principal, lo que definirá si la estructura es una tumba, mausoleo o columbario, información que espero dar pronto, si bien creo recordar que el columbario pertenecía a una familia adinerada de la zona, lo que explicaría que parezca más bien una estructura mixta entre columbario y mausoleo.
En este edificio hay toda una colección de antigüedades romanas que iré fotografiando poco a poco, pero entre ellas también se encuentra un pie de alguna escultura que también podéis apreciar en su correspondiente foto.
Antequera es históricamente una potencia arqueológica y eso se ha venido confirmando con todos los descubrimientos realizados en las obras de carreteras y del propio AVE que se han venido realizando en los últimos años. De aquí que se sepa que la zona tenía una amplia población en forma multitud de villas por toda la comarca así como la gran ciudad de Singilia Barba una de las más importantes junto con Malaca y Acinipo (esta última cerca de ronda) situada a 6 Km de Antequera y muy bien conservada según los expertos.
